Balboa Italian Restaurant

This is modern, authentic, Italian cuisine right in the heart of Palm Beach. It is stylishly appointed (luv the leather aprons), with a magnificent bar and relaxed ambience and ... 'Yes you should have the antipasto as well as main meal!' (sensational).  A meal at Balboa is hosted by the same calibre of accomplished team that we have experienced at Avvia (same owners as Avvia). They know their wines and capably attend to detail, while we are all chatting away and totally focused on enjoying the night (or day).

"Yes - Of course they have an Italian chef"

Location:  1069 Gold Coast Highway. Palm Beach. (10-15 mins walk or 5 mins drive from Surfers Horizons)

Palm Beach Surf Club

Lunch, dinner or drinks at the club are too easy combined with one of the most relaxing, balmy, spectacular, ocean-front views. Walk down Jefferson Lane from Surfers Horizons (10mins) or drive (5mins) to the club ... or courtesy bus it ...

This club is the go-to place to unwind and sit back (in comfortable clothes), for a meal to rival most of the swanky restaurants and cafes nearby.

The seafood platter for two (when on the menu), is both good value and good quality... So 'yes' of course the Pasta Marinara is good.
- Selection of Pizza's (tick + yum)
- A nice selection of gourmet salad meals

For those on a quest for the best 'Chicken Parmigiana' (CP). Palmy SLSC version of CP stands up well against the best of them. There are seasonal pork, lamb, and fish dishes and...The steaks are nicely cooked and reliable standard (Wednesday night is 'Steak Night' - Great Value!)

Remember to take ID ... especially if you are planning to walk from Surfers Horizons along the beach to the club. What a wonderful vantage point to sit in the cool of the afternoon, watching the reflection of sunset throw hues of pink, purple or orange across the horizon.

PS and Psst: If you are here for for more than a few days ... becoming a member may be well worthwhile at $5-$10, with discounts off food as well as drinks ... with one flash of your member's card. See you at the club!

Location: 'Beachfront' - Cnr 7th Avenue and Jefferson Lane. Palm Beach. Q. 4221 | Approx 10mins walk from 'Surfers Horizons.

Tallebudgera Surf Club

'Club Talle'

Around 11am Sunday we decided to zip along the beach for a quick dip in Tallebudgera Creek.  As things turned out it was a very quick dip, as hunger pangs started somewhere between here and there. We rocked up to Club Talle ready for a quick bite to eat and then ...... We ordered the seafood platter for two $50 (excellent decision) ... Double serves of Fresh oysters + prawns + mussels + 2 x bugs + fried calamari + fish + scallops + chips with heaps of fresh fruit to finish off.  Just a pity we dived into the platter before taking the time to photograph this magnificent meal ... Note to self ... "Must return, order same again and capture an image for the website".

We watched the band setting up and decided to wait and see ... as we munched and sipped away outside on the balcony, glancing out over to the beach every so often.  After tapping away to a couple of 70's vibes, then rocking good 80's and then midnight oil in all it's glory, the afternoon was turning 'danceable'.  Once they ramped up 'Midnight Oil', it was hard not to do more than tap the foot ... and dance they did !

Long story short ... it was 3:30pm or so before we headed out onto the beach again for our 15 minute walk back to Surfers Horizons.  Try breakfast, lunch or dinner at Club Talle - good value, good quality and great music every Sunday afternoon on the outside balcony.

Location:  1505 Gold Coast Highway | Approx 10-15 mins walk from 'Surfers Horizons'.  Walk along the beach ... or along the highway until you get to Avvia ... then catch the big walking path along the top of the beach until you reach the 'Club Talle'.
