To the NorthWalk or Jog north along the beach to discover Pacific Surf Life Saving patrol right on our doorstep ... or further around (or walk over) the rock wall to find Tallebudgera Surf Club a bit further along, Outdoor Gym, Children's Playground, and lots of fishing spots in the little surf edge gutters along the way to Tallebudgera Creek ... clean, clear, tidal still water swimming, 'Custard Cafe' in the Rec Club grounds ... and for a longer walk ... go across the bridge to walk through Burleigh National Park and around into Burleigh Heads (cafes & shopping in James Street)... or under the bridge to continue for a longer walk or run along Tallebudgera Creek. Take a good book, find a shady tree to take in the beautiful tidal creek view while sipping a coffee or two. Wear swimmers underneath if you fancy a dip to cool off. Seagulls, pelicans ... Why not plan to pack a fishing rod and picnic for tomorrow after you have checked out the best fishing holes ? You can see the baby fish and usually some big ones as well swimming past in the creek just waiting for you to cast or snorkel around the rocks. If you prefer to take the road (walk, jog or cycle) from Surfers Horizons a little way (south) along the highway to 23rd Avenue (2 blocks south)... you will discover a nice wide path winding along the top of the beach ... past the surf club, outdoor gym, playground and along to Tallebudgera Creek. Follow the path around beside the creek choosing under the bridge or over the bridge and continue to cycle through the hill to Burleigh Heads foreshore right up to Nth Burleigh. This is a nice ride to take in Sunday beachfront markets at Burleigh without having to find a park on the busy esplanade strip.

To the SouthWalk or Jog south along the beach to discover Palm Beach Surf Club ... our favourite club ... the one with the balcony right on the beach... good meals for kids as well as adults... worthwhile joining as a member if you are staying for a week or two ... member's rates on drinks as well as meals. There are lots of surf fishing spots, Dune Cafe just over the dunes at the southern end of Palm Beach, Pirate Park Playground, Currumbin Creek ... walk around the creek-side path through the rain forest walk and loop 'home' back to Surfers Horizons again ... or continue (under the bridge) for the longer distance through the Currumbin mangrove walk ... and keep going further around to cross the creek at the small bridge past the RSL and now that you are on the other side of Currumbin Creek ... onward to discover the Currumbin Boatshed where you can hire standup paddle boards, kayaks and stop for a coffee or meal at 'Saltwater Cafe' ... then back across another little bridge to make your way back to Palm Beach. |

'Rock to Rock' | Short Beach Walk ... Right out Front ...'Rock to Rock' is a local custom. A quick formula for putting toes in the sand along waters edge ... a chance for 'me' time or walk and chat before settling down for beachfront breakfast, lunch, dinner or simply 'vino' on the balcony in front of the reflection of the sunset over the ocean. We do the 'Rock to Rock' walk out front of Surfers Horizons' ... along the beach to touch the rocky groin to the North (approx 300 metres) then turn around to walk south along the beach to touch the rocky groin to the south (approx 300 metres). Then back home to 'Surfers Horizons' for a well earned sit on your apartment balcony. Customarily ... If the rock is not touched ... the 'Rock to Rock' is not complete! |
Discover the Palm Beach Reefs right out front of us at Surfers Horizons. Swim with turtles and discover the underwater wildlife just metres from the shoreline. The closest is the artificial reef commonly accessed from shore by surfers and snorkellers - close to shore. Further out approx 300 metres from shore is our natural rock reef for more experienced divers, fishing kayaks and boats. For those who prefer to snorkel a little closer to shore ... try around the rocks at higher tides in Tallebudgera Creek at the northern end of our beach. |
